Taski Mouse

Taski are a leading international supplier of professional cleaning equipment and we were delighted when they chose us to recreate their mascot, FanTaski Mouse.

FanTaski Mouse

When we are asked to create a mascot, we begin the process with anything from a general idea of what the client wants, right up to full technical drawings with Pantone references and materials.

In the case of FanTaski Mouse, we were fortunate enough to have a photograph of a toy created by an advertising agency. This was a really good starting point, as we had a fairly accurate representation of what the client required, although they did want some changes from the original model.

Initially, the client wanted to go with the toys arms, legs and head matching the one shown in their photo (although this changed in the final version) along with the toy’s name.

Originally just Taski Mouse, their marketing department came up with the FanTaski name during the development process and were keen for us to experiment with the design in terms of materials, printing and embroidery, so they could assess a range of options.

We are committed to making sure you are 100% delighted with your final mascot which is why we are happy to create multiple designs and up to three samples to help you make the right decision.

During the prototyping and sample stage, our designers worked closely with the client, trying different materials, body sizes, colours, loop styles (on arms, legs & tail) and font choices.

An important element was, of course, ensuring the brand name was clear and legible on the mouse body so both sublimation and embroidery were tested.

As the client wanted a plush material rather than a canvas style as with the original, we all agreed that the embroidery option was the perfect choice on this occasion. We even managed to get the ® symbol to be legible which was quite a challenge.

The final touch, as Dug was being used as a gift to new subscribers to The National newspaper, was to find somewhere to put their masthead logo, so he could do his job of promoting the paper wherever he was seen.

Fortunately, in Dug’s case, we didn’t need to add a woven tag as we had the perfect place to print the newspaper’s logo  around his collar.

So with that final detail in place, we were ready to manufacture and deliver the finished version to the client.
